Personal Training from Denise Tryner, Fitness Consulting

Por Tu Familia

Many Latinos feel guilty spending time and money on personal health. They feel selfish putting their own health care ahead of their family's needs. See the News4 Interview from March about our Boot Camp program.

The opposite should be true. The American Diabetes Association is here for your family, but we want to bring the message home that you should take care of your diabetes or prevent yourself from developing it, for your family's sake too. Your family needs you to be healthy and feeling your best, so that you can be there for them. That's why the new name for ADA's Latino Initiatives health campaign is Por tu familia -- or "for your family" in English.

Diabetes is an urgent health problem in the Latino community. Their rates of diabetes are almost double those of non-Latino whites. Getting information to the community about the seriousness of diabetes, its risk factors and those who may be at risk, and ways to help manage the disease is essential.

Por tu familia and Denise Tryner Fitness Consulting have partnered to offer even more to the community because we care about your health.  Basic training which is a bootcamp style class is now available to the uninsured, under-privileged, but most deserving Latino community.  All fitness levels are welcome to attend.  This exercise class will challenge you as well as teach you how to exercise on your own without expensive equipment.  You will have no excuses to reach all of your goals.
