According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, obesity levels in children have more
than doubled in the last 10 years and more than 30 percent of
America's youth are now considered
overweight. More than 60 percent of today's kids do not
participate in organized physical activity outside of school. And to make matters worse,
most of our kids only get one 20 minute recess in
their 7 hour school day! Together we can change the
statistics. Be a role model for your child. Spend
quality time together getting fit, running, jumping, skipping and
engaging in physical activity together. Our youth needs to
understand the importance of a "healthy" body image. Learning
to eat healthy and be active at a young age will make their future
much brighter. One of the best experiences I have with my kids
is seeing them run "kids fun runs", the sense of accomplishment on
their face is priceless.
